Batt(l)ing an obsession!

Truth to tell, I think my Muse ran away because she had a sneaking suspicion of my growing addiction. Perhaps she thought I was being adulterous - to my blog.
However, my latest addiction is a game. Yeah, right, an online computer game, that involves the use of the four direction keys on the keyboard. For my part I have a sneaking suspicion that they have narcotics stashed into the software, for it simply is irresistible.
Tell me, has anyone else fallen prey to Stickcricket?! Say yes and comfort me, for right now, I feel like a dolt, inferior, shattered and defeated, all because my Sri Lankan team has been beaten black and blue, of all teams, by the Bangladeshis! I guess this is the only turf THOSE guys win on!
My joys are when Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh, India beats Goughies XI and England, when my batsman hits fifty and raises his bat to acknowledge it, when the same guy raises a century and takes a bow... Ah, for a feeling of virtual achivement, try winning on stickcricket.
It's red skin is burned in my memory, much like Harry Potter's scar, throbbing every time I switch on my computer and every once so often, urging me to strap up and pick up the bat.
I've forced myself to write this, even as my shaking right hand (withdrawal symptoms) strays to the mouse, guiding it to the red-orange page once more. I write this hoping that it will exorcise my current addiction, nay, obsession.
Sigh! Blogging was so much more fun!

I'm off to Kathmandu next week and I do not anticipate access to computers. Well, at any rate, I don't think I can play online games. So, if nothing works, that might. If that still doesn't, I'm thinking of signing up for a de-addiction course at the same place Matthew Perry got his!
Amen.

Thanks, Curses for drawing my attention to the 50 K drawing up on my hit-counter. I certainly could not have seen it through the red haze. And thanks all, for coming here, if only to look at my sunset! May the Force be with all of you!

Sunset

sunset1, originally uploaded by errum.

THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is a symbolic representation of the sunset of my inspiration.
If any one of you have seen my unruly Muse loitering around, kindly pick her up, put her in a box and send it to me.
Thank you very much and May the Force be at least with you.

However, like Percy Bysshe Shelley said, "If winter comes, can spring be far behind." Therefore, a sunrise, logically, is around the corner. A far corner, though.

Eureka! A one-act play.

Act 1, Scene i
------------------

(A brown executive chair, a computer on a table. Office atmosphere - you hear the clack of the keyboard in the background.)

Slowly a laugh rises (villainous) above the general clatter, reaching a crescendo, from the region of the chair. It swivels around and a young (!) woman in a mild-yellow salwar kameez pumps her fists with joy!

" Tee ha ha ha! I fixed the bugger!"

The scene concludes on more villainous laughter...

Act 1, Scene ii
-------------------

Several curious onlookers turn their heads towards the direction of the laughter. One middle-aged male in a light cream shirt makes bold to ask, " So, who did you fix?!"

Young woman: "Tee Ha HA ha ha! My comments section. That's what I fixed! I don't have to go with Haloscan anymore!"

Gent scratches hair on head. "EH?"

Young woman: "O, it is to do with my blog, you know. I've been trying since yesterday."

Gent: "Uh huh"

Exeunt gent, as puzzled as before.

Act 1, Scene iii
--------------------

Spotlight on swivel chair. Gently move light upwards to focus on the keyboard in front, showing the young woman's hands. Shift once again onto monitor. Words appear on the screen, open to a blogsite...

"Folks! I'm glad to announce that I finally figured the way to put my blogger comments back on! So all you have to do is to click on the "Make a Comment" link and you'll have aided me in my campaign against Haloscan, the big gyp. Thank you very much and may the Force be with you!"

Young woman reads the screen again and grins to herself. Slowly, the grin expands morphing into a villainous laugh... "Tee Ha ha ha ha..."
She switches off the computer. Turn off spotlight. The stage is completely dark.
Only the laughter rolls on...

Of small big things...

Several small things happened to me last week giving me big joys. For various reasons, I have not been able to write about them, but I guess it is time to record these small big joys of my last week. Here they are, in random order, I'd like to say, but actually preferentially sequenced.

You might remember Baby Krishna. On the other hand, you might not. But I am not likely to forget that fiesty fighter in a long while...if ever.
I knew she had it in her, considering her baby-battle was bloody brave. It still was a pleasant surprise when I received, from her doctor, an SMS out of the blue, mid week, telling me the baby was doing very well, meeting all her parameters and had put on some weight indeed! I am glad that little one has won the battle, I hope she has a great future and I'm touched they wanted to tell me.

I met Ilayaraja. That should suffice, however, I'll throw a context in. It was during the pre-launch press conference. I asked a question too, but that part of it is mighty irrelevant.

Last week was unbearably hot. In fact, it was just as I believed I could hear the faint sounds of Nero's fiddle that it rained. Mildly heavy showers cleared the air and drenched me completely, as I carefully rode my bike home in the chill, darkness. I took a circuitous route and I'm glad I did, because it rained only in Egmore and Nungambakkam - Mount Road was as dry and dust as it generally is.
Sniff! Sniff! I now have a bad cold-running to fever and body ache, but again, that is irrelevant.
